Everything in this image was chosen because it refuses to be controlled.
Blackberry brambles, because you can't kill them and the PNW knows it. Kudzu and bindweed, because they strangle fences and concrete and don't apologize. Dandelions, because every attempt to eradicate them has failed, and also they're medicine. Thistles, because touching them has consequences. Nightshade, because some things are poisonous on purpose.
The insects: a death's head moth for transformation. A walking stick for survival through camouflage, hiding in plain sight. A bombardier beetle, which, when threatened, shoots boiling liquid at its predators. A monarch butterfly, endangered and still flying, migrating across a continent that has done nothing to make that easier.
This is what ungovernable looks like. It is growth that takes over. Survival that adapts. Beauty that bites.
