Part of Feral & Blooming: A new series of collaborations with Trans artists

Do you have a bitin’ list?

This piece came out of grief and fury, made in direct response to murders by ICE agents this year, and the slow accumulation of horrors that makes you want to bite back. The possum knows. The possum has always known.

The jasmine flowers aren't decorative. They're Tunisian, flowers that named the Jasmine Revolution (2010-11) where everyday people got tired of a corrupt regime and forced it out. The poppies are Italian: April 25th, Liberation Day, the commemoration of freedom from fascism and N*zism. Bre walked through a field of wild poppies once while living in Italy, wind moving across the hillside. That's what freedom feels like.

The possum is here because possums are feral in the best ways. They eat ticks. They survive. They don't ask permission.

Never be afraid to be feral. They can't take away our truth.
